Just in case anyone thinks that I have been crazy for the past 5 years advocating the need for individual control and management over their personal information, which includes identity, then have a look at the growing international momentum behind VRM (Vendor Relationship Management), the reciprocal to CRM, as demonstrated at the recent VRM Workshop 2008 held at The Berkman Institute, Harvard University.
Doc Searls is driving the initiative in the US and you can view his photos and video of the event here.
I was a ‘virtual delegate’ (victim of Man Flu) following the live video stream.
VRM is a big, disruptive, global proposition, enabled by broadband penetration, which will deliver considerable benefits and efficiencies to individuals AND organisations – large and small, public and private.
So where is PAOGA in all this?
Here is an overview of the PAOGA proposition Download Cloud2.ppt and a recent article detailing the benefits of VRM to the Supply Chain.
- We know we have a VRM solution (there will be many) in PAOGAperson and My Sorting Office.
- We know we have the architecture and proven technology to provide appropriate levels of security and privacy as required.
- We recognise the importance of Trusted 3rd Party services to Validate, Authenticate and Certify not just individuals but also their data as appropriate to them.
We also recognise that this is a very big play and that we now need to move from innovation to delivery.
To achieve our ambitions quickly we need to partner with large, global organisations, with high ethical values and reputations, to go to market.
